FIRST NATIONS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Native Youth Program is a collaborative work-study program. It provides students with an opportunity to learn about traditional and contemporary Northwest Coast cultures from their own experiences and research, and from local First Nations guest speakers. They will also learn about the resources at the FNHL and MOA and develop skills in public presentations using objects and visual aids at the museum. Participants will share this knowledge with other students and museum visitors through guided tours and presentations. Students are expected to study, write reports, and participate in study trips.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be 15 to 18 years old, aboriginal and enrolled in high school. They must also have an interest in First Nations heritage.
TERM: Full-Time
July 5, 2011 – August 19, 2011
7 weeks
35 hours/week
9:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday to Friday
SALARY: $8.00/hour
